COMPUTER POWER
Every year, computers are being manufactured to be faster and more
powerful. Millions of people all over the world are using computers practically
in all fields of work and play. Very soon, these machines may become
indispensable.
Hardware is the equipment that comprises a complete computer – the
monitor, the Central Processing Unit or CPU, the mouse, keyboard, printer, etc.
Software is the set of instructions that make the computer do all the tasks,
the graphics, games etc.
Computer memory is of two kinds – Random Access Memory or RAM and Read
Only Memory or ROM. RAM is a temporary memory, allowing programmes to be run,
information to be changed and eventually, it can be removed when the computer
is switched off. ROM contains information that cannot be removed or altered.
A color printer prints by spraying colored inks to make a multi-colored
image. The printer contains four primary colors – Yellow, Magenta, Cyan and
Black. These four colors get mixed in various combinations to make hundreds of
different colors.
There are millions of Websites on the Internet giving us information on
every possible topic. But since these sites do not have any index, it is
difficult to search for a topic. To make it easy to locate information on the
Net, Search Engines have been provided which help you to choose from a number
of sites that have similar information. Some of the Search Engines are,www.google.com, www.altavista.com, etc.
