  The BIRD OF PARADISE, which lives in the jungles of the South Pacific Islands, is one of the most beautiful and colorful birds. Its plumage consists of bright colored feathers of scarlet, yellow, blue and green.

  The MANDRILL is a large baboon, found in Africa. Its bright red and blue face makes it the most colorful mammal in the world.

  The TAPIR is an interesting jungle animal with an unusual appearance. While its body is shaped like a rhino, its tapering head resembles that of a pig. Its snout or nose looks like the short trunk of an elephant.

  An interesting looking water animal is the ‘Man-of-War’ which has a balloon-like body and extremely long tentacles which hang loosely from its body.

  The DART FROG carries the most powerful animal poison in its skin glands. In the cold desert regions of the Tundra, where the ground is perpetually covered with ice and snow, live a variety of animals, which have adapted themselves to the harsh conditions.

  The Mush-Ox has a woolly coat and a thick layer of fat. In winters, these Ox grow a long coat of wind-proof hair.

  Penguins cannot fly, but they are excellent swimmers. Some penguins march more than 250 miles over the ice to reach their nests to look after their young ones.
