SPACE MISSIONS 2
SPACE MISSIONS 2
ISRO,INDIA |
Some spacecrafts called Space Shuttles are manned – they carry humans. Yuri Gagarin was the first astronaut to
go into space in 1961. More than 200 astronauts
have visited the ISS.
On 16th
July 1969 space mission Apollo 11
carrying three astronauts was launched. After four days of travel in space, the
mission reached the Moon on 20 July 1969. A small space craft called Eagle carrying astronauts Neil
Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin dropped down from the main spacecraft that was circling
the Moon with Michael Collins inside it. Neil Armstrong became the first man to
walk on the Moon. Aldrin followed his footsteps. They stayed on the Moon for
almost one Earth day. The place where these two astronauts landed is called Sea of Tranquility. As many as 12
Astronauts landed on the Moon from year 1969 to 1976. They all were sent by
NASA – National Aeronautical Space Administration. It is likely that ISRO – Indian Space Research Organisation
will send an Indian Astronaut to the moon by the year 2025.
