The Trevi
Fountain is designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and completed by Pietro
Bracci.
2)
The fountain
was built at the end point of the aqueduct, at the junction of three roads. These
three streets (tre via) give the Trevi Fountain its name, the Three Street
Fountain.
3)
It stands a
massive 85 feet tall and is almost 65 feet wide. It is the largest Baroque
fountain in Rome and one of the most famous fountains in the world.
4)
After a prolonged closure while it was being
refurbished by the Italian fashion company Fendi.
5) A traditional legend holds that if visitors throw
a coin into the fountain, they are ensured a return to Rome.
6)
An estimated
3000 Euros are thrown into the fountain each day.
7)
The fountain
is mostly built from travertine stone.
